Join me in supporting NISGUA's work to strengthen the global movement for justice
Every dollar donated between May 15-31 will be matched!
It's been more than 15 years since I first joined the NISGUA collective as a human rights accompanier. I was a wide-eyed 23 year old, eager to learn from courageous human rights defenders and figure out my own role in global justice movements. Never could I have imagined the ways that NISGUA, its people and its Guatemalan partners, would so radically transform my life.
Knowing how much this organization means to me, so many of YOU, my friends and family, have generously supported NISGUA's work over the many years of my involvement. I cannot express how immensely grateful I am for that -- even the smallest of gifts feels like an act of real love and solidarity.
This year, I humbly ask again. From May 15 to 31, every dollar will be matched up to $50,000. My goal is to raise $3600 in the next two weeks. Can you contribute $36, $360, or any amount that is meaningful to you today? Contributions made will help support:
- International accompaniment - We are excited to continue expanding our accompaniment program. Currently, during the pandemic, we have adjusted to a remote accompaniment model. Read more about our year of remote accompaniment here.
- Cross-border organizing - NISGUA facilitates exchange between movements in the U.S. and Guatemala through virtual meetings, webinars, speaking tours, and delegations. Read about our most recent delegation here, or watch the latest webinar, here.
- Campaign development - In order to bring about long-term change, we know that educating our base and speaking truth to power is crucial. Read about our latest campaign win to suspend the Asylum Cooperative Agreements, and take action in the continued campaign to end title-42 explosions and all deportations.
- Relationship-building with Guatemalan partners - Staff and volunteers maintain regular contact with our Guatemalan counterparts who are fighting for justice and defending their territories. What we learn from our partners informs every other strategy we employ. Learn more here.
Thank you for investing in this important work!
What does NISGUA do?
NISGUA accompanies Guatemalan water and land protectors and genocide survivors who are under threat for their work for justice and self-determination. This work includes providing international accompaniment to dissuade violence; facilitating connections between communities similarly impacted by colonialism; organizing campaigns against U.S. foreign policy and corporate violence in Central America; and mobilizing people for urgent actions if our partners are threatened or attacked
