Phil Neff's Fundraiser
Celebrate 40 years of solidarity and support NISGUA for the long haul!
Your gift will be matched, dollar for dollar! (Plus special prizes!)
In 1981, at the height of U.S.-funded state violence in Central America, people like you and me joined together to found the Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala (NISGUA).
40 years later, your support still matters, and NISGUA remains committed to building transnational movements for Indigenous sovereignty, migrant rights, environmental justice, and accountability for historic injustices.
As a board member of NISGUA, I'm committing $400 to kick off this campaign. Will you join me by giving $400, $40, $4, or whatever amount is meaningful to you?
You mentioned prizes?
I sure did! Thanks to donations by a longtime NISGUA supporter in Seattle, I'll offer the following gifts to random donors to my campaign:
-
For one donor of $400 or more*: A gorgeous framed black and white photo from Jonathan Moller's "Our Cuture Is Our Resistance" and a copy of the English-language book, which presents powerful testimony of Mayagenocide survivors and documents life in the Communities of Population in Resistance. (*Winning donor requested to be flexible regarding shipping arrangements within the continental U.S. only.)
- For two donors of $40 or more: A copy of one of two mini editions of poetry by acclaimed Maya K'iche' poet Humberto Ak'abal: "Raqonchi'aj (Grito)" (bilingual Spanish and K'iche') and "Ch'analik" (Spanish language).
What will my gift support?
- International accompaniment - We are excited to continue expanding our accompaniment program. Currently, during the pandemic, we have adjusted to a remote accompaniment model. Read more about our year of remote accompaniment here.
- Cross-border organizing - NISGUA facilitates exchange between movements in the U.S. and Guatemala through virtual meetings, webinars, speaking tours, and delegations. Read about our most recent delegation here, or watch the latest webinar, here.
- Campaign development - In order to bring about long-term change, we know that educating our base and speaking truth to power is crucial. Read about our latest campaign win to suspend the Asylum Cooperative Agreements, and take action in the continued campaign to end title-42 expulsions and all deportations.
- Relationship-building with Guatemalan partners - Staff and volunteers maintain regular contact with our Guatemalan counterparts who are fighting for justice and defending their territories. What we learn from our partners informs every other strategy we employ. Learn more here.
Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala, and every gift made, up to $40,000 will be matched, dollar-for-dollar! Thank you!
