Now more than ever, justice calls for solidarity beyond borders

$2,030 towards $2,500

For more than a decade, I have walked alongside the Network in Solidarity with the People in Guatemala in accompaniment of struggles for justice for genocide, against the destruction of land and water, and for Indigenous self-determination. As a volunteer, staff, and board member, I have seen NISGUA's partnerships and vision for global change grow and deepen.

Today, our world faces multiple growing threats: climate emergency, authoritarianism, and a pandemic that is dramatically sharpening economic and social inequality. NISGUA believes, as I do, that these crises must be confronted through solidarity, by accompanying, learning from, and sharing resources with people and communities on the front lines.

Here are some of the actions NISGUA is taking right now:

  • Continuing virtual accompaniment of partner organizations in Guatemala while physical presence is interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and sharing information about how Guatemalan communities and movements are responding.

Please join me in supporting NISGUA by making a meaningful contribution in one or more of the following ways:

By making a monetary gift today, you'll ensure the sustainability of NISGUA's work to continue cultivating long-term, transnational relationships grounded in a shared vision for global change. This is a crucial moment and every dollar counts. Between May 15 and May 31, 2020, all donations received up to $50,000 will be matched dollar for dollar!

If making a monetary gift is not possible for you at this time, you can meaningfully support NISGUA's work by signing up to receive our solidarity updates, by sharing this campaign with your communities, and by taking action or joining us in future events!

If you are able and would like to make an additional gift to support impacted communities, please consider supporting one of several mutual aid projects directing funds to Indigenous Guatemalan people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In solidarity,

Phil
