A fines del año pasado me uní al equipo de NISGUA a tiempo parcial y, en mi breve tiempo aquí, he podido conectar tanto del trabajo y educación política comunitaria de mis años como organizadora en EE.UU. a lo que sucede en Guatemala. Estar en NISGUA me ha dado la oportunidad de ver como los EE.UU. impacta a otras naciones. At the end of last year, I joined the NISGUA team part-time, and in my short time here, I have been able to connect both my years of community organizing and political education in the US with what is happening in Guatemala. Being at NISGUA has given me the opportunity to see how the US impacts other nations. This is something I already knew, but being able to go to Guate at the beginning of the year allowed me to see it with my own eyes and hear directly from people who are impacted and continue to fight for and with their communities.

From now until May 31, I will be fundraising with colleagues for NISGUA as part of the May Match 2025 campaign. Every donation made during this campaign will be matched dollar for dollar, so now is the perfect time to donate!

By helping us reach our total goal of $100,000, more than a THIRD of our budget will be funded, ensuring that our work is possible this year. Who is NISGUA?

The organization provides international accompaniment to dissuade human rights violations; accompanies environmental protectors and activists who are under threat for their work for justice and self-determination; and facilitates connections between similarly impacted communities. In 2024, NISGUA cowrote an in-depth, three-part “Seeds of Life” series about ongoing struggles for justice, land, and human rights.
