Join me in supporting NISGUA's ongoing internationalist accompaniment - because we need this trans-territorial work more than ever!
It’s been a decade since I was introduced to NISGUA and the word accompaniment became part of my regular vocabulary. Since then, and after more than 5 years with NISGUA, I’ve integrated the praxis of accompaniment into my personal, professional, and organizing life. NISGUA’s commitment to its decades-long relationships with our partnering organizations combined with an ever-evolving analysis of the historical systems of oppression at the root of the poverty, displacement, and even genocide against those we accompany is radically unique.
Even though I've moved on from my staff role at NISGUA, I am honored to be a part of this year's fundraising team for this matching campaign! I've been transformed by this organization and its people and I know many others have as well. By making a gift today, you are a part of this transformation. Will you help me reach my goal of $1,000? At a time in which U.S. policies (expansion of deportations) and cuts to programs and financial aid (cutting of USAID) are dramatically impacting our comrades in Guatemala, the financial independence of NISGUA is more important than ever. The Arevalo administration in Guatemala is appeasing to Trump's demands in exchange for economic and political viability. And as was written in a recent NISGUA report, "these agreements threaten migrants, Indigenous People, the environment, and anyone in the way of imperialist ambitions and capitalist profit." NISGUA continues to be a voice of liberation in the midst of such repression.
