Now more than ever we see the importance of internationalist solidarity. The US turns away from, and often supports, atrocities in other countries, but we as residents of the US have power to move time, energy, and resources towards movements in other places.
NISGUA works tirelessly with indigenous-led organizations in Guatemala that are building the world we wish to see. Through their work, I've been able to stay abreast of important struggles for autonomy and justice in Guatemala, like the historic Ixil Genocide court case, even 8 years after I was in Guatemala as an accompanier (peep the fresh-out-of-college baby Clara pic).
