Take a walk down memory lane as we celebrate our 40th anniversary! NISGUA’s 2021 calendar features beautiful images representing the many facets of our work, including posters from 1980s speaking tours, social movement artwork, and delegation photos.
For 40 years, NISGUA has woven a rich tapestry of engaged solidarity and collective action for transformation. The loom sustaining our work is our long-term relationships, grounded in mutual trust and shared struggle. The strands of our weaving include delegations, tours, accompaniment, horizontal exchanges, political education, and advocacy campaigns. Forming the weft and warp is our commitment to social, environmental, and racial justice and our recognition that global systems of oppression impact communities in both the U.S. and Guatemala.

The NISGUA calendar is a collective creative
effort every year! We deeply appreciate the leadership of Ali
Durbin, who has coordinated the calendar creation for the last six years.
We also thank our fabulous Calendar Committee: Marianella
Aguirre, Amanda Kistler, Joene Pike, Christina Reyes, and Isabel Villalón.
Gracias to Christie Keith and Todd Kolze for sharing their invaluable
historical input for this anniversary calendar. A shout-out to long-term
collaborator Melinda Van Slyke who is once again coordinating orders
and shipping. Finally, thank you to the photographers who have
generously shared their art with us and you.
